It’s easy to make money playing poker, you see people win all the time and you don’t really have to do anything except sit at home and play poker or go to the casino and play. Well, I do actually have to do something to make money at poker, although it’s not the easiest thing in the world. I’m sure you know the type, they enter a casino, win a thousand dollars and are ready to leave. But, if you want to make some real money or win more easily, you have to work on your game.
There are many different strategies you can use, some you may already be used and some you may want to try. Here are some strategies and tips for Texas Hold Em that will make you money today.
Reading Players
Read everything you can about the players at the table, what are their strengths and what their weaknesses are. Are they tight or loose? What are their lingo terms? Are they used to playing tight or loose? What are their betting patterns? It’s really important to study what every player at the table does because (in large part) it will determine how you play against them. I’m not saying you should go around table and just watch what they do, but learn enough about the game and you will have enough information to make your decisions easier.
Stepping In With Part Of The Money
If you are playing for $50 a hand, part of the money you risk is yours for as long as you stay in the dewalive. This is an important lesson for any poker player. You don’t have a liability for your poker chips if you aren’t willing to play, so use this to your advantage.
If you have good cards and you think you are good at acting before other competitors, put yourself in front of your opponent by putting in a big raise. The next thing you need to do is watch how the action plays out. When other players fold and you take the pot, make sure you pay attention to the way your opponents act. Did they show no signs of intimidation? Did they act strong and weak at the same time? If you think they will give you more hassle than they did, you need to make a few adjustments in your game.
Concentrate And Keep It Slow.
If the game is slow and there are few cards dealt or no betting opportunities, then it is easy to lose track of money and missed opportunities. Bring to mind the last hand or turn if you get a chance to do so. Ask yourself what would have happened had you been dealt more cards or more money. Did your opponents scare you or did they let you get your just reward? If you’re still in the hand too, try again as soon as possible.
Small Goals
In the beginning, it’s important to be realistic with your goals. Don’t think of them as being huge, just trying to get to the next level or to get to a tournament final table. Keep it small.yes, it’s fine to be ambitious but don’t be greedy. The reason for aiming for bigger goals is to increase your chances of reaching them. It’s better to fail a few times and half the time than it is to never achieve at all.
Ok, I’ve given you some pointers on hand strategy. Next time you’re playing, don’t forget these!
